Assistant Service Technician

We are looking to hire a customer-oriented Assistant Service Technician.  To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff, senior management, and external customers.  Salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. A SIMPLE Retirement Program offering a 3% employer match is available to all employees once probationary period has been completed.  

As an Assistant Service Technician, you will primarily handle customer support calls, assist with the initial wireless hardware installation as well as troubleshoot and repair wireless equipment and Internet service delivery to customers.  

Assistant Service Technician Responsibilities: 

  • Provide telephone support to customers to resolve internet connectivity issues, billing issues, and sales
  • Will be required to learn a variety of hardware related software and monitoring programs and tasked with providing backup support to the Network Operations Manager.
  • Assist with service installations at the direction of the Network Operations Manager.  Typical installations include mounting antenna/radio on exterior of building at customer location; running CAT5 wire from outside antenna to inside plug; fastening wiring to outside roof/wall or run cable through attic/crawl space to inside wall.
  • Assist with aligning the antenna with the software interface on laptop to achieve optimal performance; changing and moving the mount to adjust for new obstacles; replacing the antenna/radio and faulty wiring or connectors
  • Cleaning up after customer installation; removing boxes, pieces of cable and sheetrock dust
  • Completing all installation and repair paperwork
  • Using a courteous and professional approach to address customer questions and concerns; discussing equipment placement, cable routing, paperwork completion, etc.
  • Determining which tools are needed for scheduled installations, organizing and loading equipment into Company vehicle
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Adhering to the Company’s quality standards, policies and procedures

Additional Assistant Service Technician Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license to drive within the Company’s geographical footprint on a regular basis
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, and other job-related software
  • Basic understanding of IP networking is desired but not required
  • Ability to analyze and define problems, calculate figures and amounts, prioritize workflow, multitask, meet deadlines, and remain flexible
  • Demonstrate attention to accuracy on all duties and responsibilities
    Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with Company and OSHA established safety policies and requirements
  • Ability to work weekend and/or evening work; availability to perform some travel
